PROFILE
Shri Ajit Kumar Mishra is an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), he brings over twenty-five years of distinguished experience in the planning, execution, governance, and delivery of large and complex infrastructure projects across the railway and transportation sectors.
As Director (Works), he provides strategic leadership for IRCON's diverse portfolio of railway, high-speed rail, metro, bridge, tunnel, track, and allied infrastructure projects in India and overseas. He is responsible for project execution, engineering excellence, contract governance, digital project controls, stakeholder coordination, quality assurance, safety management, and timely delivery of nationally significant infrastructure programmes.
He currently oversees several strategically important projects, including the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Track Package, ballast-less track works, important bridges over river Ganga, tunnelling projects, and critical rail connectivity initiatives that support India's logistics, industrial growth, and economic development. He is also incharge of infrastructure projects executed by IRCON in Bangladesh, Malaysia and Nepal.
Prior to joining the Board of IRCON, Shri Mishra served in senior leadership positions in the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), where he led the execution of major railway infrastructure projects and subsequently headed the Contract Management Department, overseeing procurement, contract administration and dispute resolution for multilateral-funded projects.
An alumnus of IIT Kanpur, Shri Mishra holds an MBA in International Business and an LL.M. in International Dispute Resolution. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), a FIDIC President's List Adjudicator and FIDIC Certified Trainer. He actively contributes to the development of project management, contract administration and dispute avoidance through professional institutions and international forums.
He believes that successful infrastructure delivery is driven by engineering excellence, proactive risk management, effective contract governance and collaborative stakeholder engagement.
